Childless women and the commitment-shy man

A recent report by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) states that when women in their early 20s were interviewed between 1982-84, only five per cent said they didnât want children, yet four times as many were childless by their late 30s. Furthermore, itâs projected that almost one quarter of women born in 1973 will be childless by the age of 45. Sue Peart, Editor of glossy magazine You says: âIâve lost count of the number of newspaper and magazine column miles Iâve read on the vexed question of those-how shall we describe them?- women who, for one reason or another, arrive at their late 30âs and early 40âs childless. The clichĂ©s used to describe them donât make attractive reading. âSmug singletonsâ and âselfish career womenâ are two oft-trotted-out examples. Commentators seem to assume that women have made a deliberate choice to put career (or, to be more realistic, job) over family, and maybe some of them have. But equally many of them yearn for a baby, itâs just that the right man hasnât come along in time.â Â
Is the growing phenomenon of the childless 30 or 40-something woman the result of cynical lifestyle choices? And should we be looking more closely at the role played by men who delay commitment in a relationship until their 40âs?

A woman is not a baby producing machine!!!
I completely agree with u that if u mess with the natural order of things , you end up with a whole load of mess on your hands but at the same time it's true that a women has the choice to have kids WHENÂ she wants to and WHEN she thinks she's ready for the responsibility.
You can't just say that the 21st century women is just toooooo lazzy and selfish to have be bothered.
She's doing much more than the women half a century ago but she just still hasn't learnt how to juggle everything accordingly and NOÂ a women is not BUILTÂ as you have mentioned for one purpose only........... she is much more than a baby producing machine.

It's A Woman's Duty To Have Kids
Everyone’s gone raving mad. It's obvious that these women are deciding not to have kids because they’re too selfish and too lazy. Most of them want to be like men, but they’re forgetting that they were built for one main purpose and that is to have kids. You start messing with the natural order of things and you’ve got one hell of a mess on your hands.
