Kotka's Kymi River Music Festival (or the Kymijoen Lohisoitto as it is known locally) offers an array of classical, jazz and folk (laulelma) music around the city. Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, with its 97 musicians, opens the proceedings.

RockNess 2008 takes place at Dores near Inverness on Saturday 7 June and Sunday 8 June. Campsites will open at 9am on Friday 6 June for those of you who can’t wait to get the party started.

The Nesstival area, brought to you in partnership with the Bestival team, will be open from 12pm on Friday so you can ease yourself into the weekend with some laid back grooves, plenty of bars and great food. Leading acts include Fatboy Slim, Razorlight, The View, Underworld, Editors and various DJs.

Chelsea Town Hall hosts Frock Me, a vintage fashion event that brings a nostalgic collection of clothing and accessories to a crowd of students, designers, models and celebrities. Hats, shoes, gloves and jewellery are all on display alongside contrasting contemporary designerwear.
