The north section of Lincoln at Addison, Chicago comes alive for the Rock Around the Block festival, a music, food and arts festival which attracts 40,000 people over two days every year.

Thirty of the city's best bands perform on three stages as three blocks of the city buzz with street performers, plenty of good food and arts and crafts galore. Families can take part in the many games on offer, including painting, sculpting or face painting for children.

Speakers will include: Nick Davies, author of Flat Earth News; John Pilger, documentary film maker; and Robert Wardle, recently retired head of the Serious Fraud Office. David Donald and Tommy Kaas lead a team of trainers on computer-assisted reporting, using the internet, and statistics. Jim Nichol and Raphael Rowe on investigating miscarriages of justice.
