Sean happily serving local customerSean Daley has been working at his Islington fruit and vegetable business for four years and has seen many changes take place i.e. new stalls opened, many closed down and several leaving Chapel Market for greener pastures. The family run business has been providing many customers with their "five a day" fruit and vegetables for 70 years.
With the current harsh economic climate affecting every business, Daley's fruit and vegetable stall is feeling the pinch. When asked how he is coping, Daley said: “People want to come to the market for cheaper fruit and veg, and I feel that we are giving them good value and that's why they come back. But it's a struggle to survive."
Famed Chapel Market is open every day in London, United Kingdom. Located on a street of the same name near Angel, on sale are fruit, vegetables and fish, as well as bargain household goods and cheap clothes. It is open every day except Monday, operating in the mornings only on Thursday and Sunday. The market is only three blocks long; many of the patrons are local, and food and wares for sale are primarily for daily use.
The street is also notable for M. Manze's, a traditional Pie and Mash vendor whose first branch was established in 1902.
With the busy festive period coming up, Chapel Market is going to have Christmas lights, decorations jolly activities making the place even more lively than normal. Listen to my interview with Sean Daley.
