Hurricane Ike effect on Foreign Office

Don't try and contact a press officers at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office today because "all the lines are down due to a technical fault," a switchboard operator has just told me.

The telephonist triumphantly added: "There is no way even we can contact anyone there. You'll just have to keep trying."

Never mind. If you're worried about the Hurricane Ike lashing the Caribbean and how it might be affecting friends and family in the tropical region or your holiday plans then you can still dial this number for some answers: 020 7008 1500. Good luck.

Oh, if you remember my blog http://www.the-latest.com/big-boys-shoot-people about a fellow gym member at Peckham, in south London, threatening mayhem and gun crime because he said his valuables had been stolen, I can now solve the mystery. A security guard told me the dim wit locked the wrong locker. His possessions were found safe and sound in an adjoining locker which he had left open during an hour long training session. So, ignore the news media hype. Peckham is not such a bad place after all.
