Cameron: PM in waiting?FAMILY MAN David Cameron has just made his pitch to the country from the Conference in Birmingham - hoping that they will elect him as PM in a few months time - assuming Gordon Brown has the bottle to call one.
In his emotive speech, he shrugged off Brown's claims last week that in the period of economic turbulence, 'this is no time for a novice. '
He told the packed audience that he wanted an age of responsibility - less state control - and called for change.
A clever counter attack to Brown's 'Age of Irresponsibility' comment he made on the banker's who have so far turned the country on its knees.
Cameron said he would work with the government in the short term, but that it was a political duty - and a constitutional duty to hold the government to account.
Cameron made two pledges: to mend a broken society, as well as give 'money' back to the people.
He said that the corridors of power, Westminster, also needed reforming.
He told them: "We need to get our own House in order first."
And added: "People are sick of the sleaze, sick of the inflatable pensions and sick of the Plasma screen TVs."
He also said: "We will make a stronger society, if we make a more responsible society."
Mr Cameron also said he would get every one of his minsters to look at all the bureaucracy from Whitehall and see if it was value for money.
On his thoughts of becoming PM, he said you can't prove that you will make a good PM - but he said it is not just about experience.
And joked: "We've all experienced Gordon Brown's experience."
It was about character, judgement, he added.
He said he was a man with a plan, not a miracle cure.
"We need change, he said, "not soneone who bottles it."
So, PM in waiting or just a very clever PR man?
I WAIT...It's going to be an interesting time the next few months...
