IT has been a year to the day since British prime minister Gordon Brown 'bottled' out of calling that elusive general election.
The feeling is Brown made the biggest mistake of his life by not doing so.
At that time, Labour were ahead in the polls, and David Cameron's Tories were trailing - despite their positive conference in which they were forced into revealing their inner most secrets, including their populus plan to raise the threshold of inheritance tax, hoping to win back middle England.
Today's anniversary of the bottled out moment made me think of former PM Tony Blair's infamous quote when he entered No10 all those years ago.
11 years since NEW Labour cruised to a landslide victory seems only like yesterday.
Blair's quote was: "We campaigned as New Labour, and together we will govern as New Labour."
Why not alter this to: "We created New Labour together, and together we will destroy New Labour."
Seems quite pertinent now doesn't it?
