Darling: About to be dumped?Darling: About to be dumped?Liberal Democrat frontbencher Vincent Cable has apparently been tipped to take over as Chancellor - meaning Gordon Brown will dump his Labour one Alistair Darling, claims a political conspiracy-style website.

An unnamed reporter, only named as The Mole, claims Gordon Brown is on the verge of sacking his Labour Chancellor Alistair Darling and bringing in Cable, the so called economic wizard.

According to The Mole, Cable's name has been mentioned more than once from Blairites this week as a possible replacement.

Cable was famous for taking the mickey out of Gordon Brown in a Prime minister's question time a few months ago when he joked Brown was more Mr Bean than the iron socialist 19th Century Russian Joseph Stalin.

And yesterday, in Prime minister''s questions, Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg appeared to be offering an Olive branch to the PM by saying he fully supported the measures the government had taken by injecting a whopping £500bn into the financial system to keep it afloat.

The Mole writes: "The Lib Dem Treasury spokesman's stock at Westminster is sky-high. Like some biblical prophet, Cable has long been warning of the financial crisis that has now engulfed the British economy. He was, for instance, one of the first to come up with the idea of nationalising Northern Rock."

The Mole adds: "In the salad days of his administration, as he sought to fulfil his promise of creating a Government of All the Talents (GOAT), he offered a Cabinet post to former Lib Dem leader Paddy Ashdown. He was rebuffed after Ashdown consulted the Lib Dems' acting leader - Vince Cable. They reckoned it was born of pure political calculation."
So idle tittle tattle, or is Brown about to dump his Labour Chancellor for a Lib Dem one?
Afterall, this is a GOAT's government.....
*(GOATS) this means Government of all the talents.....concocted by Gordon when he came into power last year.
