Canadian Olympic FansThere are two main reasons why people attend the Olympic Games: 1) to watch their favourite athletes from around the world go head-to-head in the world's most important sporting event, and 2) for the party.
For many, the two co-exist together. Friday night I was able to experience the Olympic Party on Robson St. Robson St. is a street located in downtown Vancouver that has been sectioned off for the Games. In Robson Square, officials have organized daily skating, light, and firework shows, and set up a free zipline in the square. The streets are where you find THE Olympic spirit. The thousands of people from all around the world who come to celebrate athletic accomplishments and patriotism. Although the streets are covered with Canadian flags and O Canada singers, there are many other countries dancing around, celebrating with eachother, and doing everything in a good, old fashioned positive spirit.
Here is a video of my experiences on Friday on the streets of Vancouver.
