Political blogger's rage at wealthy hacks

A leading political blogger has slammed the gigantic wages earned by two top mainstream media journalists.

GUIDO FAWKES, which was voted Britain's top political blog, by the newly created political magazine Total Politics, has been laying in to Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee and another hack Will Hutton, claiming their so called 'millions' earned by pontificating about capitalism, is the wrong kind of rich.

GUIDO writes in his blog: "What have Hutton or Toynbee ever produced besides words on paper, how many jobs have they created, how many businesses have they financed? Have they ever had to make payroll at the end of the month? Worried about how they were going to pay staff?"

The blogger, who uses the guise GUIDO because of the historical link  to Britain's only person to have plotted to blow up the Houses of Parliament, added: "Why is making millions from pontificating (as they do) morally superior to making millions from investing in and running companies? It seems that out and out capitalists are the wrong kind of rich, whereas out and out media pundits are the right kind of rich."

He links to a book jointly written by Toynbee and David Walker named Unjust Rewards, which pontificates about the role of the rich in society.

Toynbee has also been invited along to London's journalism training noSWeat, in Clerkenwell this month, and is apparently set to inspire the next generation of journalists there.

She is president of the Social Policy Association and was formerly BBC social affairs editor, columnist and associate editor of the Independent, co-editor of the Washington Monthly, and a reporter and feature writer for the Observer.

But GUIDO also jokes: "But in no way is GUIDO pleading poverty."

GUIDO has been laying into Toynbee for some time on his blog.

I wonder how much he's making from his blog?
