Half a million of them are living on the streets or in doorways and the rest are in squats or temporary shelters.

'Our country needs yours help now', say UK Haitians

National news media turned up to hear heart-rending accounts from British Haitians of loved ones killed and missing after the earthquake which devastated the Caribbean island. A dozen camera crews and just as many journalists crammed into Southwark Town Hall, in south London, for the launch of a desperate appeal for help.
