Tax bombshells...

David Cameron today attacked Labour and Gordon Brown for going on a borrowing binge, and re-iterated that Labour's tax cut was really a tax con in a press conference in London.

Cameron said: "Gordon Brown knows that borrowing today will mean higher taxes tomorrow. If he doesn’t tell you that he is deliberately misleading you.”

He promised to set up an independent Office for Budget Responsibility to bring stability to the public finances and open the way for permanent tax cuts in the future.

And he said he would restrain the growth of spending by not matching Labour's "unsustainably high" spending plans for 2010-11 and the years beyond.

In response to Cameron's fiscal stimulus (tax policies), one blogger: "Not a lot of excitement, but a reasonable attempt to take control of the news agenda. He has, at last, formalised the Conservative Party's intention to not keep to Labour's spending plans in government."

Below is another bloggers clever advert to describe the Labour/Tory feud on tax bombshells.
