Walford star launches CA appeal...

Christian Aid have launched their Christmas Appeal 2008 with the help of Eastender's star Kara Tointon who visted Zambia seeing first hand the plight of families forced to live on just 60p a day.
Tointon, who plays Dawn Swan in the BBC One soap was over there helping promote strong family unity in the region and spent time talking to families who suffer from the devastating affect HIV Aids has on their families.
She said of the visit: ‘The trip was inspiring. There are so many families that need help and it was great to see the assistance some are receiving. I urge everyone to support this appeal.’
Zambia has one of the world’s highest instances of HIV infections according to UNAIDS statistics. One in six adults is HIV positive and more than 600,000 children have been orphaned as a result of the virus.
Will it be happy families in Albert Square this Christmas? John Altman who played the evil devious Nick Cotton is set to return for three months to utter those famous cockney words to his ma Dot, (June Brown)
Cotton, who lied, cheated and conned his way into his mum's purse is back ready to play happy families with a granddaughter in tow.
But with 'nasty Nick around, you can be sure he won't be nice for long, Altman told a national newspaper yesterday.
According to Digital Spy an entertainment website, June Brown had campaigned for her on screen son's return to Walford for five years.
As his on screen mum, you can be sure she'll be sick of the sight of him when he's back....
