Marc Wadsworth and Deborah Hobson - The-Latest - EXCLUSIVE
Bosses of Vogue Italia have told The-Latest that their long-awaited 'all Black models' edition will hit the news stands in Britain this week.
Publisher of Vogue Italia Marina Lemessi emailed this website to say: "I am happy to confirm that the U.K. distribution will be completed by the end of this week. In Italy it has been available on news stand from last Saturday and not before. So there is no delay, just the technical time required for delivery. I hope you will enjoy reading it!"
News agents throughout Britain have been flooded with requests for the historic July edition from eager consumers. One reader, who was turned away from Selfridge's empty handed earlier this month, said: "I came here to buy two copies of the magazines and was desperately disappointed when I was told it had not arrived. Me and my friends were beginning to believe the rumours that it was a hoax."
There have been growing complaints from African Caribbean and Asian British models that they cannot get work because of racism in the fashion industry; something which has been taken up by newspapers like the Evening Standard and The Independent.
This week's Voice newspaper has uncovered what it calls the "apartheid" faced by Black glamour models. We await, with bated breath, for a British version of an all-Black Vogue.
