Coordinating such a launch is tricky business, and Microsoft's upcoming effort to ship Xbox 360 globally in time for Christmas is expected to be plagued by stock shortages. Japanese companies Nintendo and Sony are known for routinely launching in their home territory of Japan months ahead of US, eventually reaching Europe sometimes more than a year later. But if Nintendo and Microsoft can pull off their ambitious plans, the pressure will be on Sony to follow suit with PlayStation 3, which is likely to launch last in the next-generation race.
