We continue our feature on inspirational and creative photographers who share with us their images for your enjoyment. The sixth in our series is Chris Scott.
Even as a child, Chris Scott was "always a bit on the arty side". However, it was when he was studying mechanical engineering at college that he accidentally discovered photography.
He was in a physics class when a fellow student produced a camera from his bag and asked Chris if he knew anyone who might be interested in it. Chris remembers: "It was nothing to do with wanting to take pictures - I just wanted to have this beautiful thing!". After that purchase, he has never looked back. A business course followed, then he launched himself into the precarious world of freelance photography.
Chris, 45, spent 8 years in New York, US, working for Elle and O, The Oprah Magazine as well as advertising companies and a number of other outlets. Today, Chris shoots mainly portraits, for the Telegraph Magazine and incidental fashion catalogues for "funky" brand Urban Outfitters. This week, he had his his first food photographic assignment. 'Well, you gotta be flexible these days!' he explains.
Chris also spends a lot of his time pursuing his hobby which is fine art photography. Having put on several shows in Manhattan, US, he is working on projects for shows in London.
