My new best friend

And my new best friend this week is...?

It's been a long time since I have seen Tony and Gordon smile for the camera! Well when I say smile I mean really smile!

This week has seen the emergence of what the betting industry would call a long shot.

Up and coming political predator, Alan Johnson has risen through the ranks of the Labour Party like a slithering lizard wading through the undergrowth.

And as political journos know all too well these creepy crawlies generally tend to be experts in their field at negotiating with both sides.

Once a postman, Mr Johnson will now be delivering no doubt a surprise letter to no 10 or even no 11 Downing Street.

This will be in the form of a bid to become a potential candidate for the leadership contest when Tony announces he will no longer be occupying Downing Street.

Gordon Brown was passed over a cute Toy version of the New Mini yesterday, for his son to play with, while the race for him to enter Downing Street seems to be so near yet so far.

He  is certainly in pole position for the top job, but by no means is it going to be a lap of honour as Im sure potential wanna- be's will want to throw their hats into the ring.

But for the moment everybody wants to be Alan Johnson's new best friend.
