In May 2006, The-Latest's editor Marc Wadsworth had the privilege of meeting Hugo Chávez on his whirl-wind visit to London, and was hugely impressed by the energy, commitment and dedication of Chavez and the ministers who accompanied him.
They were mobbed by adoring crowds - people proud, like us, of the brave stance the Bolivarian revolutionaries had taken for socialism and against American-led imperialism. The passing of Chavez, aged 58, on Tuesday is a sad day for the struggle of the oppressed against their oppressor, for he was their global champion. Rest in peace President Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías.
