Should have gone to Specsavers

+++++++++BRITISH POLITICAL CORRECTNESS HAS GONE BONKERS++++++++++ OK, so Jimmy Carr may have been stark raving bonkers to have said this, and must have known that it would lead to outrage (which it has in some quarters): "Say what you like about servicemen amputees from Iraq and Afghanistan, but we’re going to have a f*****g good paralympic team in 2012.” This type of satirical comedy has always been around. Does anyone remember some Only Fools and Horses episodes? You would never get away with some of the quips made in that now, would you? Comedy is comedy. Satire's actual premise is to shock, offend, and to provide a rather disgusting review of life as it is. It's not pretty, it's not clean, and it doesn't hold back. But, and this is the big but, it's comedy, and not to be taken literally, or even seriously. We've all made jokes at other people's expense. Sometimes it goes too far, but, that's part of being human. It's almost as natural as giving birth. Those who take offence at it, and can't see it for what it is, obviously need to take off their rose tinted spectacles of the world, and just get a life. Or, they should have just gone to Specsavers....
