Two Sussex beer bloggers are in a race against time to find five brews from five soccer World Cup countries in order to complete their collection, making it possible for them to host a Beer World Cup later this month.
The Cup of Good Hop - will pit the best beers from countries such as Brazil, Nigeria and Japan in a match-by-match basis in order to find the greatest combiner of hops, yeast, water and alcohol on the planet. The blog has achieved more than 1,200 hits from 20 countries since its inception a little over two weeks ago.
Brighton-based beer hunters James Byford and I, both 38, have so far sourced 27 of the 32 national tipples, but are stumped as to where tofind brews from the following countries:
Cameroon
Ghana
North Korea
Slovakia
Uruguay
It’s been great fun collecting the beers so far but these last five have left us stumped. None of these countries export their beer to the UK and it would be a great shame if our challenge was to fail as a result.
If anyone has a beer from any of these countries going spare, we’d be so grateful. We’ve had an offer from Serbia but apparently their post office doesn’t allow the transit of beer.
Anyone who can help James and myself with our noble quest should contact us on 07946 825926 or email pstymail@yahoo.com. Alternatively, they can just enjoy the blog and the World Cup as it unfolds in South Africa from June 12.
